Our Story
Built on the Bellarine Peninsula. Built for Australia.
My Veggie Patch was founded by David, a solo founder based on the Bellarine Peninsula, Victoria, under the company Grow Ventures Pty Ltd. Like a lot of Australians, he had a backyard, a growing interest in eating better, and a vague idea that he should probably grow some of his own food.
What he couldn't find was an app that told him exactly when to plant what, in his specific climate, in his specific beds. Most gardening tools on the market were built for the Northern Hemisphere — wrong seasons, wrong pests, wrong assumptions about what grows where. So he started building one himself, AI-first, in 2025.
The Bellarine Peninsula is temperate coastal Victoria — great growing conditions, but unpredictable frosts and wind mean timing matters enormously. The app is named for the simple pleasure of having your own veggie patch, and the quiet satisfaction of eating something you grew yourself.
"I just wanted to know what to plant this weekend. Turns out a lot of Australians did too."
What we believe
Growing your own food should be achievable, not aspirational.
Most people give up not because they lack the will, but because they lack good information at the right moment. That's what we fix.
Australia needs its own gardening tools.
Our seasons are reversed. Our climate zones are unique. Our pests are different. Generic gardening apps built for the UK or US don't cut it. We built My Veggie Patch from the ground up for Australian conditions.
Grow more than vegetables.
A kitchen garden isn't just about food. It's about connection to where your food comes from, skills that last a lifetime, and the quiet satisfaction of eating something you grew yourself.
